A Taste of the Cape takes you on a taste adventure into the winelands of the Western Cape and through the region’s top artisanal producers.

This Signature Journey will give you an opportunity to mingle with renowned names in the Province’s gourmet circles and spend your days indulging in only the most luxurious culinary delights.

The tour starts in the Overberg, where many artisans quietly produce some of the countries hidden culinary secrets. Your first evening will include a local seafood dinner at a restaurant located in the Hermanus region.

In Hermanus you will visit a local brewery and taste an array of artisanal beers from this scenic coastal region. After you have tasted some of the Cape’s renowned craft beers, you will be whisked off to an Abalone farm where you will learn all about these delicious South African delicacies. Locally known as Perlemoen, Abalone used to be found in rock pools along the Cape’s coast, however with time, poaching has become a threat to the sustainability of the South African Abalone species.

On the next stop of your itinerary you will enjoy a sumptuous lunch at a well-known wine estate and enjoy a tasting of the estate’s wines followed by further tastings at some of the many other estates in the area. Your stay for the night will be at a luxurious hotel in the region.

After breakfast you will take a leisurely drive to Stellenbosch and sample some of South Africa’s highly acclaimed wines. Lunch will be at Overture, a modern South African dining experience run by the country’s well-known chef, Bertus Basson, followed by further wine tastings.

The next day, you will once again visit the historic student town, Stellenbosch, known not only for its splendid wines but also for its rich history steeped in Cape Dutch architecture, museums and galleries. Your day will start with a morning wine safari at the Waterford Wine Estate.

At Waterford Wine Estate you will spend some time with the wine maker, drive through the vineyards and taste wines made from the grapes that surround you. You will have a unique chocolate and wine pairing experience in the middle of the vineyard and return to the main farm house at the end of your drive. From here, you will head to a renowned wine estate and enjoy further wine tastings in the area.
