This Signature Journey is something that we at IKON are very proud of as it gives our clients the opportunity to be on the front line in the battle against the violent slaughter of rhinos, elephants and other animals across Africa. There is nothing glamorous about conservation, and most of the important work never makes the front page of the newspaper, however this is an opportunity to make a difference.
Traveling into the field, you will be accompanying the Air Shepherd Anti-Poaching Team in one of their areas of operation. After careful mission planning and briefing, you will be able to witness first-hand as operations unfold. This will require stamina, as most of the poaching takes place during the night and this is when the Air Shepherd Anti-Poaching Team flies.
Some of these missions involve tracking and tagging rhinos or elephants as well as relocating displaced animals when necessary. Getting a rhino into a vehicle is not an easy task. We will also arrange a visit to a local community so that you can experience how rhino and elephant preservation contributes to the welfare of the communities as well as to learn about their diverse cultures.
After your anti-poaching mission, you deserve some R&R. IKON will whisk you away on a private plane to your exclusive Safari camp where you will spend 3-4 days in pure bliss. Here you will have the opportunity to view lions, leopards, elephants and rhinos in their natural habitat, free from the threat of poachers. Our expert guides and trackers will have you feeling like a real native by the time you leave. IKON has privileged access to premier luxury Safari camps in both South and East African countries. We will suggest a camp depending on where your anti-poaching mission takes place as well as the time of year.
While in South Africa, Cape Town has to be part of your itinerary. Cape Town is a vibrant and beautiful city filled with a spectacular gourmet scene and is also home to IKON headquarters. Here you are guaranteed to get the local experience which includes a Braai (barbeque) with IKON African Team Leader, Shaun Scrooby and some Capetonians (Cape Town locals). The Franschhoek Valley and Swartland Wine Region offer our guests the opportunity to dine amongst the vineyards and taste the incredible wines that are uniquely crafted in South Africa.
Cape Town is also known for the world’s largest population of Great White Sharks. Experience one of the few places on Earth where you can be submerged into the ocean and be an arms-length away from these magnificent creatures. Such an amazing adventure needs to be shared and IKON will make sure to capture your experience on film.
