This Hosted Journey gives you a unique opportunity to experience the orchards of Navarra, mushroom foraging in Soria, savoring “Migas”, learning how to create your own “tapas and pinchos”, enjoying gastronomic dinners in the Spanish desert or dining at a luxurious private estate in Sigüenza.
Slow Food in the North of Spain is a Hosted Journey expertly crafted for you to enjoy nature and its produce in a variety of extraordinary ways. Furthermore, you will experience these gastronomic delights at some of Spain’s most exclusive locations and accommodations.
Your Hosted Journey will start at a private nature reserve, exploring a historic 1,200 hectare property and where you will enjoy a cooking workshop, a country-style lunch and a lavish night’s stay. The next day, our Soria and mycology expert will be awaiting your arrival to go mushroom foraging and exploring the breath-taking Soria countryside. Once the sun sets, you will enjoy our “pick of the day” dinner at a charming rural hotel.
Continue to La Rioja where you will experience the authentic “slow life” in a stylish farmhouse, and will be your accommodation for the next couple of days. Visit three of La Rioja’s top-quality wineries designed by world-renowned architects, making this the perfect reason to taste fine wines, pair them with gastronomic delights and enjoy a Michelin-starred dinner. Along with your La Rioja travels, you will discover the eco-country lifestyle, ride a bike around the La Rioja area and participate in a “tapas and pinchos” cooking class.
From La Rioja we will head to a highly respected family-owned winery in Navarra. Here you will experience an exclusive tour of the cellars, wine tastings and food pairings followed by a meal at their property. Your accommodation for the night will be at a boutique hotel which has been under monument protection since 1949.
Situated high in the Pyrenees, the Roncal Valley is a must and is significant for its delicious cuisine and variety of cheeses. At a local farm you will gain first-hand knowledge on how the traditional cheeses are produced. Your accommodation for this destination will be at a hotel in the Bardenas Reales desert.
Navarra offers a plethora of fresh and distinctive products, and our IKON team has carefully curated a dinner at a very special location where you will enjoy a meal based on Navarra’s seasonal produce.
The next morning you will travel to Navarra’s neighboring village, Tudela. Apart from being the vegetable garden of the Ribera region, Tudela is one of Spain and Europe’s most influential city.
Tudela is a melting pot of cultures and religions that include Muslim, Jews and Christians and are reflected in their monuments, streets and watchtowers. Once you have experienced Tudela’s cultural immersion you will open up your senses and visit an olive oil mill. Taste a variety of olives, their highly appreciated golden oil and learn about the multiple uses that olive oil has in the kitchen.
To round off your Hosted Journey, we will set a late afternoon departure to Bardenas Reales Natural Park for a Segway tour and farewell dinner in the desert.
