Botswana

Botswana is all about the Okavango Delta, and is one of Africa’s top destinations for traditional safaris. The eastern border of the Delta comprises of the rolling savannah of the Savuti and the prolific elephant paradise of the Chobe River & National Park. Depending on the season, guests will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to view these majestic mammals.

In the South of the Okavango Delta, IKON will guide you to the vast Makgadikgadi Saltpans equivalent to the size of Portugal. This is where the magical 4000-year-old Chapman’s Baobab Tree will be found and is the only landmark for hundreds of miles. This colossal tree is truly significant as it helped guide Dr. David Livingstone across these pans during the 19th century. The ancient salt pans are bordered by semi-desert grasslands that offer excellent game viewing during the wet season. After the summer rains fill the waterholes they attract migrating herds of zebra and antelope which feed on the sweet grass. This in turn attracts predators such as lions and creates ideal conditions for vivid predator-prey activity.

When traveling to Botswana, IKON recommends expertly guided game drives, nature walks, river cruises, horseback safaris and traditional ¨mokoro¨ dugout canoes.

Botswana offers outstanding luxury, the opportunity to mix it up with true adventure and to meet and interact with ancient local cultures such as the San. At IKON nothing is impossible and we will gladly organize safaris specialized for photographers to newlyweds looking for their dream honeymoon destination. While it is a great destination for many ages Botswana is not an ideal location for children and toddlers.

A large part of Botswana’s main safari regions are divided into private reserves, most of which IKON has long standing relationships with. The result is a level of privacy and exclusivity that accounts for the country’s high ranking as a Safari destination.

Contact IKON and we will gladly arrange a private consultation with one of our Safari experts.
